LRC FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: How many resources can I borrow and for how long?
A: You are allowed 5 books at any one time. Book loans are for two weeks. Multimedia loans are shorter, for example, DVD loans are for 1 week.
Q: What if I haven't finished with the book when it is due back?
A: As long as no one else has reserved it you can ask to have it renewed for a further two weeks. You can do this by either bringing the book to the LRC, by phoning the LRC Helpdesk on 0151 288 6348 or via e-mail on leane.kinsella@sssfc.ac.uk

Q: What happens if I am late returning my books?
A: There are no charges for late or overdue loans, but not returning the resources means that other students do not have access to the resources. Even if your book is late back, it is still worth getting in touch to renew it as it stops the resource as being flagged up as overdue on the system.
Q: What can I do if I can't find the books that I need?
A: If the books are in stock but on loan to another student, the LRC team can reserve them using the online catalogue for you. If the books are not in stock you can put in a request (via the suggestion box in the LRC or by email) and we will try to obtain them for you by buying a copy for stock.
Q: Is it easy to find the books and information I'm looking for in the LRC?
A: Not always! Resources are catalogued according to the Dewey Decimal System of Classification, where each subject is assigned a number. If you cannot find the specific resource you are looking for in the subject section, the LRC team are here to help. Just ask!
